Romantic Botanicals #36

 How to Choose

The second iris to bloom perceptibly tilts and opens. The flower is a different shape from when I sketch it to when I paint it and to when I re-paint areas. Of all the flowers it is the most restless sitter. Others have been moved by the wind but this one fidgets all on its own.

I condense real space because I want all 3 iris buds in the picture. I am continue to work with a heavy outlining inspired by Van Gogh's iris. I simplify the world so leaves become a solid mass of colour and are defined only by their relationship to the breaking free point of the sky.
