I am taking my sketches of Valentines from last February and making small oil paintings of them. I am enjoying the fluidity of oils. People talk of creamy colour, acrylics seem more like blobs of thick cream where as oil seems thin and smeary, never drying and endlessly blendable. With acrylic paint I painted over when I changed-my-mind/mistake but oil I scrape off with the pallet knife or rub off with paper towel.

I have started with animals, a grey cat scratching a heart and a octopus squished brain like into a heart shape. I have many valentine drawings with figures that I am itching to begin yet with out staging reference photos with people I will get that clunky slightly off look when I do stuff from my mind/memory/imagination. Another hurdle to production.
